Somers Lions - Lions Programs

Andersen Home: With the help of many volunteers and the generosity of local residents and business owners (in particular – Croton Home Center, Best Plumbing, Tile and Stone, and Jilco Window Corp), this home was completely re-sided, several doors and windows replaced, painted, weather proofed and a new boiler installed along with many other improvements. It is our hope the Andersen family will remain comfortable for years to come in their home and in our town!

Handicap Ramp: With the assistance of the Town Building Inspector and the generosity of Michael’s Paving – George Hirsch, the Somers Lions provided a much needed asphalt ramp to allow a Lake Lincolndale man the ability to travel from his home to the street – and beyond!

Holiday Festivities: Lighting of the Town Tree in front of the Elephant Hotel, a visit from Santa with photos, and caroling at Somers Manor are activities organized by the Somers Lions.

Somers Track Meet: – Joseph Wynn Memorial is held each May and is sponsored and staffed by the Somers Lions Club. In conjunction with the Somers Track Booster Club and the Somers Track staff, this has become one of the largest and most successful track meets in the State.

Independence Day Celebration: – The parade, festivities and fireworks are coordinated and partially sponsored by the Somers Lions.

Easter Egg Hunt, Red Ribbon Kick Off & Movies in the Park are all activities supported and or sponsored by the Lions.

ReisParkGazebo, Band Stand and Playgrounds: – All constructed and many sponsored by the Somers Lions.

Organizations we have traditionally supported include: Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Friends of Karen, Blythedale Children’s Hospital, Vacation Camp for the Blind, Camp Badger, North East Special Recreation, Somers Senior Citizens, Girls and Boys Scouts, Somers Youth Sports Association, Somers Historical Society, Somers Parks and Recreation and YMCA.

There for Everyone! – The Somers Lions Club is consistently approached to lend a hand or organize a project to help local residents, children or organizations in need. We are a very busy service organization that is always looking for more worthwhile projects and causes.
