In February 2018, the Somers LEOs proved that a little cold weather is no match for a big commitment to service. Seventy-one Somers High School students took the plunge at the Special Olympics Polar Plunge in Westchester, jumping into icy water to raise funds and awareness for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

Their dedication made a powerful impact. The Somers LEOs raised more than $27,000, earning recognition as the top public school fundraising team at the event. Funds raised through the Polar Plunge help support year-round training, competitions, and life-changing opportunities for Special Olympics athletes across the region.

The Polar Plunge is just one example of how Somers LEOs turn energy and teamwork into meaningful service. Guided by the values of Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity, these students continue to show how young people can make a real difference in their community while supporting causes that promote inclusion, confidence, and achievement.
