For graduating seniors at Somers High School, the end of the year isn't just about final exams and prom, but rather, it’s about celebrating a legacy of service. The Somers Lions Club Scholarship program has become a cornerstone of the community’s youth outreach, proving that while grades matter, character and community impact matter more.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, this year’s Adopt-A-Family program brought holiday joy to local families. Special thanks to retired teachers and social workers from Somers Schools and the Somers Republican Party for their extra support, showing what community truly looks like: neighbors helping neighbors and making a difference together.

The Somers Lions proudly march in the Veterans Day Parade and support Veterans year-round. From celebrating local heroes like Lt. Victor Prado to assisting homeless Veterans with housing and essentials through organizations like My Brother Vinny and the Westchester All-Stars, the Lions are committed to honoring service, showing gratitude, and providing hands-on support to those who served our country.

The Somers Lions joined the Somers Fire Department for a day of food, fun, and community connection. From grilling burgers to sharing vision care resources and meeting our young LEOs, it was a celebration of service, neighbors helping neighbors, and the joy of coming together to make a positive impact on our town.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Somers Leos gathered at the Van Tassel House to turn a "day off" into a "day on." The goal was simple: ensure no neighbor in Westchester faces the winter without the essentials. What started as a student-led idea by Sean Donnelly, Gabe Stor, and Alex Donnelly grew into a massive community effort. By the end of the afternoon, the team had collected over 30 bags of winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves.

Jake Mohan is a typical ten-year-old boy who is also completely blind. When he was seven, the Somers Lions Club provided him with a Humanware BrailleNote Apex computer and Braille printer. This technology allowed Jake to read, write, and complete schoolwork using Braille, helping him stay academically on track and giving him greater independence in the classroom.
