Somers Lions Eyeglass Recycling: Giving the Gift of Sight

The Somers Lions Club proudly participates in the global Lions eyeglass recycling program, helping bring clear vision to people in need both locally and around the world. Many individuals lack access to affordable eye care, and a simple pair of glasses can dramatically improve their ability to read, learn, and work.

Community members can donate used eyeglasses of all types, including prescription glasses, reading glasses, and non-prescription sunglasses. Lions volunteers collect the glasses from local drop-off locations throughout Somers and the surrounding area. The glasses are sorted, packaged, and sent to a processing center where they are cleaned, neutralized, graded by prescription, and prepared for distribution to people who need them most.

This simple act of donation can have a powerful impact. By recycling eyeglasses, the Somers Lions help restore vision and improve quality of life for countless individuals across the United States and around the world.
